The Old Vinyl Factory
A RADICAL NEW MASTERPLAN FOR HAYES
This challenging masterplan project required us to create one set of imagery that accurately depicted the volumes of two concurrent planning applications, alongside a previously granted scheme.
The Old Vinyl Factory is a radical £250 million proposal for the redevelopment of the original EMI site, Hayes, Middlesex. This unique site was once the centre of world vinyl record production.
In a joint venture, Development Securities plc and Cathedral Group are proposing a beautiful 17-acre masterplan including: new homes, a cinema and restaurant complex, cafes and shops, and a museum, all linked by new pedestrian walkway – ‘The Groove’ – that will connect it to the town centre.
The design team behind the proposal includes: Duggan Morris Associates, Allford Hall Monaghan Morris and Studio Egret West.
We collaborated with the planning consultants and attended regular design team meetings to give us an in-depth understanding of the key planning challenges. Our insights enabled us to provide a uniquely developed AVR product to support the Visual Impact Assessment.
The planning application received unanimous approval from the London Borough of Hillingdon in November 2012 with final approval from the Mayor’s office expected in early 2013.
